Петербургский завод General Motors (GM), до сих пор выпускавший автомобили только в тестовом режиме, с 16 февраля начнет промышленную сборку машин, сообщил РИА Новости сотрудник предприятия.
Предприятие будет работать по сокращенному графику — три дня в неделю вместо пяти. Как сообщил ранее РИА Новости официальный представитель компании, сокращенный режим работы петербургского завода позволит сохранить штат сотрудников, адаптировав производство к снижению спроса.
Завод GM в Петербурге открылся в ноябре 2008 года. Предприятие закрывалось на рождественские каникулы с 20 декабря 2008 года до 11 января 2009 года. Через две недели после возобновления работы завод в плановом порядке был остановлен до 16 февраля.
На начальном этапе завод в Петербурге будет выпускать две марки: кроссоверы Chevrolet Captiva и Opel Antara. На середину 2009 года запланировано расширение модельного ряда новой маркой Chevrolet Cruze и выход на проектную мощность в 70 тысяч автомобилей в год.
