В настоящее время крупнейшим в мире держателем международных резервов является Китай, который к концу 2010 года накопил уже рекордные $2,85 трлн. На втором месте Япония, золотовалютные резервы которой достигли $1,11 трлн (на конец сентября 2010 года). Россия прочно удерживает третье место. Четвертое место занимает Тайвань ($380,5 млрд на начало октября 2010 года).
