Территория России увеличилась на 4,5 кв км

Территория России из-за сейсмособытий, произошедших на Сахалине и Курилах в 2007-2009 годах, во время которых образовывались новые участки суши, увеличила свою площадь на 4,5 квадратных километра, сообщил РИА Новости директор Института морской геологии и геофизики (ИМГиГ) ДВО РАН Борис Левин.

 

"В результате землетрясения в Невельске 2 августа 2007 года морское дно поднялось и образовался новый участок суши, общей площадью три квадратных километра", — сказал Левин.

По его словам, еще 1,5 квадратных километра территория Российской Федерации приобрела в результате извержения вулкана Пик Сарычева на Курильском острове Матуа.
