Исследование проводилось с 19 по 26 ноября 2008 года среди 1500 мужчин и женщин старше 15 лет; сегодня оно было представлено в Москве.
«Относительно обнадеживающие, пока еще очень робкие, но все же заметные изменения произошли в оценке россиянами эффективности деятельности российской власти по противодействию коррупции. Если в 2007 году лишь 12% россиян оценивало такую деятельность как эффективную, то теперь такую оценку дает 21% опрошенных», — говорится в докладе организации. По утверждению авторов исследования, это своего рода аванс. «Безусловно, граждане России внимательно наблюдают за теми действиями, которые связаны с принятием антикоррупционного законодательства и началом его применения. Долг и обязанность государственных органов и высших должностных лиц России не обмануть эти ожидания», — отмечают они.
Директор российского центра Transparency International Елена Панфилова обратила внимание на то, что растет количество россиян, которые вынуждены давать взятки — 29% в 2008 году против 17% в 2007 году. «Увеличение коррупционного налога представляется крайне недопустимым, особенно в условиях кризиса», — сказала она журналистам.
