Премьер-министр Великобритании Тереза Мэй официально запустила процедуру выхода Великобритании из Европейского союза — Brexit, сообщает ВВС.
28 марта британский премьер подписала официальное уведомление председателю Европейского совета Дональду Туску, составленное в соответствии со статьей 50 Лиссабонского договора. Оно будет доставлено в Евросовет в среду, 29 марта.
После доставки письма премьер-министр сделает заявление перед депутатами, подтверждающее отсчет времени до выхода страны из ЕС.
Также отмечается, что Мэй пообещает во время переговоров с ЕС «представлять каждого человека во всем Соединенном Королевстве», включая граждан ЕС, чей статус после Brexit еще не урегулирован.
25 марта лидеры 27 стран – членов Европейского союза в преддверии Brexit подписали Римскую декларацию, в которой говорится о достижениях, вызовах и приоритетах Евросоюза.
