Муниципальный округ «Парнас» в Санкт-Петербурге с 1 июля переименован в муниципальное образование «Сергиевское». Об этом в понедельник сообщили в администрации Выборгского района.

По словам замглавы районной администрации Виктора Полунина, в поддержку смены названия высказались около 10 тыс. жителей округа. Как сообщил чиновник, округ переименовали в честь Сергия Радонежского, «сыгравшего ключевую роль в духовном, политическом, экономическом и культурном становлении Российского государства, установлении государственной независимости Руси».
На территории округа проживают 70 тыс. человек. Название «Парнас» существовало с середины XVIII века.
Идея переименования принадлежит депутату прошлого созыва ЗакСа, а теперь представителю региона в Госдуме Евгению Марченко, который заявлял, что люди часто путают название муниципального образования с названием партии «Парнас», промзоны «Парнас», метро «Парнас» и колбасного завода. В начале года глава поселения Алексей Черезов выступил с предложением переименовать округ. Эту инициативу поддержало большинство депутатов Законодательного собрания.
Против инициативы о переименовании высказывались в Топонимической комиссии города. По словам специалистов, название «Парнас» округ получил по имени насыпного холма, созданного в середине XVIII века на территории владений графа Шувалова в парке на севере Санкт-Петербурга, тогда как Сергий Радонежский к округу никакого отношения не имеет.
