В Исландии закроют оба ресторана McDonald’s, сообщает в понедельник, 26 октября, Agence France-Presse.
Рестораны планируется закрыть 1 ноября 2009 года. По сведениям владельца оператора ресторанов Йона Гардара Огмундссона, главная причина закрытия McDonald’s в тяжелом экономическом кризисе.
Оба ресторана все необходимое для приготовления продуктов сырье импортировали из Германии. Однако в условиях резкого падения исландской кроны импортировать приходилось в убыток. По мнению Огмундссона, для возвращения к прибыльности, некоторые продукты и сырье можно было бы закупать в Исландии. Поэтому в связи с невозможностью компромисса по этому вопросу с руководством McDonald’s, рестораны было решено закрыть.
При этом оба ресторана будут открыты заново, под другим названием. Отвечая на вопрос о том, возможно ли открытие McDonald’s заново по окончании кризиса, Огмундссон сказал, что это очень маловероятно. По его словам, решение о закрытии ресторанов далось очень непросто, так как посетителей сейчас очень много, но работа все равно идет в убыток.
Первый ресторан McDonald’s открылся в Исландии в 1993 году торжественным поеданием гамбургера премьер-министром страны, Дэвидом Оддссоном.
