В январе 2014 года эта марка американской нефти стоила $47,60, и ещё год назад, после масштабного мирового падения цен на нефть, к январю 2015 года, этот сорт американской низкокачественной нефти North Dakota Sour стоил $13,50. Однако сейчас Flint Hills Resources LLC готова доплатить покупателю — компании Flint Hills Resources — по $0,50 за баррель, чтобы он забрал сырьё.

В этой связи премьер-министр Медведев назвал динамику цен на нефть непредсказуемой и отметил, что это несёт в себе большие риски для пополнения государственного бюджета РФ. «Поэтому, — сказал он, — необходимы дополнительные меры в плане более энергичного сокращения расходов».
