Автор документа — депутат Госдумы Иван Никитчук.
Необходимость реализации этой инициативы депутат объясняет тем, что в 2016 году рубль обесценится как минимум втрое по сравнению с прошлогодними показателями. По мнению депутата, повышение страховки позволит повысить доверие граждан к банковской системе.
В конце декабря 2014 года президент России Владимир Путин подписал закон о повышении в два раза лимита страховых выплат по банковским вкладам из фондов АСВ — с 700 тыс. до 1,4 млн руб.
