Президент Сирии Башар Асад не примет участия в конференции «Женева-2», передает РИА «Новости» со ссылкой на заявление заместителя министра иностранных дел России Михаила Богданова. По его словам, правительственную делегацию возглавит министр иностранных дел страны Валид Муаллем.
Богданов добавил, что участие в конференции примут представители около 30 стран, точный список которых будет согласован в конце декабря 2013 года.
Он уточнил, что сама конференция начнется 22 января на уровне глав министерств иностранных дел стран. На следующий день представители правительства и оппозиции Сирии приступят к полноформатным переговорам.
Предполагается, что достигнутые в ходе них договоренности могут быть утверждены в Совете Безопасности ООН.
