Делегации двух стран воспользовались правом вето и проголосовали против этого документа. Проект резолюции получил 11 голосов «за», два участника голосования воздержались.
Постпред Великобритании Марк Лайэл Грант заметил, что Россия и Китай «не смогли продемонстрировать своей ответственности перед СБ ООН».
Российский проект резолюции предусматривает продление на три месяца пребывания 300 международных наблюдателей в Сирии для налаживания диалога между властями и вооруженной оппозицией. А западный проект предполагает угрозу санкций, против которых выступают Россия и Китай.
