Вчера после пятничной молитвы в Каире десятки человек атаковали здание дипломатической миссии Израиля в Каире. Полиция не препятствовала. Участники нападения сумели проникнуть в здание и учинили погром. Власти направили на подавление беспорядков армейские части с бронетехникой, более тысячи человек получили ранения, зафиксированы три смертных случая.
Посол Израиля в Египте, сотрудники израильской дипмиссии и десятки других израильтян покинули Египет на специально присланном военно-транспортном самолёте. МВД Египта объявило режим ЧП. Премьер-министр Исам Шараф созвал экстренное заседание правительства.
