В Италии 4 декабря проходит референдум по конституционной реформе, сообщает ANSA.
В 7.00 по местному времени (9.00 мск) открылись избирательные участки для голосования.
Референдум был инициирован правительством Маттео Ренци. В голосовании должны принять участие почти 47 млн граждан Италии и еще около 4 млн граждан, проживающих за рубежом.
Правительственный законопроект предусматривает изменение роли и функций сената страны в системе органов государственной власти Италии. Если большинство итальянцев одобрит изменения в Конституцию, количество сенаторов уменьшится до 100 человек, а также будут ограничены полномочия Сената.
Ранее законопроект рассматривался в национальном парламенте и был окончательно одобрен 12 апреля.
Если предложенные изменения не будут одобрены, то нынешний премьер-министр Маттео Ренци сказал, что намерен уйти в отставку.
Согласно последним опросам итальянцы не поддержат внесение изменений в Конституцию.
