Власти сектора Газа согласились закрыть контрабандистские туннели, соединяющие Газу с Египтом, в обмен на возобновление работы пограничного пункта в городе Рафах, в обмен на возобновление полноценной работы совместного погранперехода «Рафах», пишет The Jerusalem Post.
Египетские власти приступили к уничтожению туннелей после убийства боевиками из сектора Газа 16 пограничников на границе с Израилем, которое произошло 5 августа. Также после нападения на пограничников Египет закрыл и КПП в Рафахе.
«Туннели стали народным способом прорыва жестокой блокады сектора Газа», — заявил Бардауиль на пресс-конференции в Газе.
