Саммит будет проведен в связи с недавним нападением террористов на редакцию французского сатирического журнала Charlie Hebdo. В результате теракта погибло по меньшей мере 12 человек.
«Я собираюсь использовать эту встречу, чтобы обсудить готовность Европейского союза к вызовам», — сказал Туск. Он также заявил о необходимости ускорить работу по введению правил об обмене данными авиакомпаниями пассажиров, пересекающих границы ЕС.
