Молдавия потребовала полного вывода российских военных и вооружений из приднестровского региона. Об этом заявил президент Молдавии Николай Тимофти на прошедшей международной конференции «Политика нейтралитета: международное сотрудничество во имя мира, безопасности и развития», сообщает ТАСС.
Тимофти пояснил, что Молдавия выступает за то, чтобы нынешняя миротворческая операция на Днестре с участием России была преобразована в гражданскую многонациональную миссию под международным мандатом.
По его словам, такие обязательства Россия взяла на себя на Стамбульском саммите ОБСЕ в 1999 году. Однако, так как Россия отказывается выполнить свои обязательства, молдавские политики обратились в конституционный суд с просьбой разъяснить влияние этой ситуации на статус нейтралитета Молдавии.
«Авторы запроса считают, что размещение иностранных войск в восточном регионе Молдавии (Приднестровье) де-факто означает отказ от нейтралитета, и, следовательно, это положение в конституции должно быть юридически аннулировано пока контингент иностранных войск находится в нашей стране», — сказал президент.
В1992 году в регионе разгорелся конфликт между молдавскими вооруженными силами и приднестровским ополчением, в ходе которого погибло около тысячи человек. Остановить его удалось после того, как в Москве было подписано соглашение о мирном урегулировании, в соответствии с которым в зону боевых действий были введен контингент российских миротворцев.
В в марте 1995 года в Приднестровье был проведен референдум, на котором более 90% избирателей высказалось против ухода российских военных, которых считают гарантами мира и безопасности.
