Североатлантический союз (НАТО) принял решение направить во вторник в Польшу и Румынию разведывательные самолеты системы AWACS. Об этом сообщает агентство Reuters со ссылкой на представителя НАТО.
Как заявили в НАТО, их полеты помогут следить за ситуацией на Украине и в Крыму, получать информацию о возможных перемещениях сил в регионе, чтобы, в том числе, «ответить на озабоченность со стороны Польши, Литвы, Латвии и Эстонии».
При этом, как отмечают в руководстве альянса, Украине полученные сведения предоставляться не будут. Также сообщается, что разведывательные самолеты НАТО не будут покидать воздушное пространство стран-членов организации. Напомним, что Украина не входит в состав альянса.
Ранее в НАТО уже предупреждали, что в случае, если Россия своими действиями создаст угрозу какой-либо из стран-членов, Североатлантический союз будет действовать по статье 5 Вашингтонского договора о совместной коллективной обороне.
