При этом официальный курс американской валюты, установленный Банком Венесуэлы, остаётся на уровне 207,3 тысячи боливаров. Для сравнения — минимальная зарплата в Венесуэле составляет 18 тыс. боливаров или $4,3 по актуальному курсу.
Кризис в Венесуэле продолжается уже несколько лет. Он начался после трехкратного падения цен на нефть в 2014 году. Продолжается девальвация боливара, а также гиперинфляция. По итогам 2018 года инфляция в Венесуэле составила почти два миллиона процентов. По данным ООН, уровень инфляции в Венесуэле уже к концу текущего года превысит 1 миллион процентов.
