Британская нефтяная компания BP продаст добывающие активы во Вьетнаме и Пакистане для того, чтобы оплатить ущерб от разлива нефти в Мексиканском заливе, передает Би-би-си. Покупатель этих активов не называется.
Кроме того, BP продаст cвои активы на сумму 7 млрд долл. американской Apache Corporation. Это газовые месторождения в Техасе и Нью-Мексико стоимостью 3,1 млрд долл., на западе Канады — 3,25 млрд долл., и в Египте — 650 млн долл.
Ранее компания объявляла о планах продать активы на 10 млрд долл. для финансирования ликвидации утечки нефти. BP уже потратила порядка 4 млрд долл. на ликвидацию последствий экологической катастрофы.
Кроме того, BP придется перечислить 20 млрд долл. в течение 4 лет в специальный фонд в рамках борьбы с последствиями катастрофы.
Однако не исключено, что компании придется также выплатить колоссальный штраф Вашингтону – около 18 млрд долл., причем в эту сумму не входят ни издержки на ликвидацию последствий катастрофы, ни выплаты пострадавшим.
Согласно американскому Закону о чистой воде, принятому еще в 70-х годах прошлого века, если суд признает британскую компанию виновной в аварии, BP придется заплатить за каждый баррель вытекшей в залив нефти 4,3 тыс. долл.
