Его расширят за счет включения в состав земельных участков и прилегающей к ним акватории, занятых объектами строящегося на мысе Путевой морского терминала, предназначенного для перевалки генеральных грузов, мощностью до 3 млн тонн в год.
Сейчас порт состоит из двух терминалов – угольного и нефтеналивного, которые не имеют общих сухопутных границ и находятся на расстоянии 12 км друг от друга.
